Ziggurat (2022)

 

Ziggurat is a site specific performance that emerges on the outdoor rooftop space of Design Orchard. Spanning two weekends, the work features improvisation by XUE and friends (Josh, Kansh and Sonia) to the guttural sounds of Rudi Osman on electric guitar. Rudi will be accompanied by guitarist Darell Laser of Forests for the first performance on February 26 and revelatory techno duo Dodgy South on March 12 2022.

XUE is a surrogate — a conductor of clandestine realities, activated through live performance, sound collaborations and video work, informed by the art of Butoh. XUE cultivates an impressionistic style of worldbuilding in communion with movers and music-makers. XUE conjures auto-fictive universes as a means of enacting new mythologies. XUE is interested in using the posthuman imagination to explore the poetics of existence in a perishable world.

Dodgy South

Heavy thumping bass, accompanied with visceral atmospheres and cathartic screams, Dodgy South believe their music is best experienced in front of blaring subs. The enigmatic duo have received mentions on Resident Advisor and Noisey.

Darell Laser

​

Darell Laser tries to play music (guitar and bass) according to whatever sounds good to his ears. He also plays bass and sings in a band called Forests. Sometimes he writes and records music from his bedroom too under the moniker Quite Quiet.

Rudi Osman

​

Through his electric guitar, Rudi Osman combines elements of noise, drone, glitch and meditation in his live shows. He is also a founding member of local post-hardcore band A Vacant Affair.
